Hi there,
I’m out of my depth again.
I’m translating a text on an engine. It features Lanchester balancing, with balancing shafts and masses. Now I have this heading to translate:
Forze inerziali (forze libere) di secondo ordine
The part in red recurs quite a few times in various phrases, but I can’t get my head round the meaning or translation of “forze libere”. I suspect that it’s a synonym (in which case I could just take it out), but I don’t know.
My only idea is that forze libere might be the same as forze vive, and consequently “live forces”, as in
http://www.peoplephysics.com/physics-laws3.html#9
This leaves me with:
Second-order inertial forces (live forces)
But I’m basically just guessing.
So much for my English degree. Any friendly physicists about?
Thanks
Mark
