Four wheeler

Hello,

What's a four wheeler in AmE?
Is it a synonym of quad-bike or does "four wheeler" refer only to a 4-wheel-drive quad-bike?
I'm talking about this kind of motorcycles:

Your picture shows exactly what I call a "four wheeler". I don't think it only refers to those that have four-wheel drive, but I don't own one. Maybe you should wait to hear from other members on the topic. I would if I were you.

I've never used the term myself, but I've heard it before in commercials. I thought it probably referred to a four-wheel-drive machine, but I could be wrong. (I'll bet that doesn't surprise you)
