My question is about the "ne" in "avant qu'il ne soit." I know I've read about this before, but I'm still having trouble understanding why it's "avant qu'il ne soit" instead of "avant qu'il soit". It looks like a negative, and I'm pretty sure it isn't, in this context. Can anyone help me with this concept? When do you use the "ne" and when do you not?
