I'm confused; I've been informed that the sentence "donne des bonbons à ton frère!" would be "donne-les-lui!"... However, I would say that the phrase should be "donne-lui-en!"

Does anyone have a definite answer?

The choice of the pronoun simply depends on the type of article (definite vs. indefinite):

    Donne les bonbons à ton frère ! → Donne-les-lui !
    Donne des bonbons à ton frère ! → Donne-lui-en !
