FR: His family, friends and everyone else are all actors - tense

Hello everyone. So I have this one sentence where I'm referring to the Truman Show, and I don't know which verb tense is used for this situation. In English (I believe) it's present tense, but I am having trouble figuring out what it is in French.

This is the sentence that I am trying to write in English: "His family, friends and everyone else are all actors and each moment of his life is filmed and shown to the public."

And then this is what I have: "Sa famille, ses amis et tous les autres étaient(?) acteurs et chaque moment de sa vie est(?) filmée et montrée au public."

You can also use the present in French.

Sa famille, ses amis et toutes les autres personnes sont des acteurs…

As a matter of fact, the present is even more frequent in French than in English to describe past events.
