je me brosses les dents=I'm brushing my teeth...

I think je brosse mes dents could mean a few things... like it could mean I'm brushing my prongs (of a fork)..

I think you're looking for the first one. If you're wondering why it's reflexive, it's because the teeth are a part of you, so are you doing the action to yourself.
