FR: préférer X à Y

Mac soif de vivre

"Les gens qui disent préférer au chocolat noir au chocolat au lait sont des menteurs."
- the people who say they prefer dark chocolate than milk chocolate are liars

In this sentence "à" is used instead of "que" for comparing.. Why so? Plz clear me where will i use "que" and "ou"?

Some verbs like préférer indeed require a different preposition for comparisons. But this is actually no different from English. You should indeed say, prefer dark chocolate than to milk chocolate
