Frikik vermek

    I gather that this is one of several (many?) footballing metaphors in Turkish. Can any readers of the forum furnish me with more examples adding translations as necessary. I don't know of any; the only metaphor I can think of is a Turkish metaphor for corruption, which is not really relevant. It concerns police corruption:-
    The police would rather you give them "cash for soup", or "chorba parasi" - soup is traditionally eaten at the end of a night of heavy drinking.

    Frikik vermek is also used when a woman flashes her underwear, or sits in a way that her panties, for example, can be seen - (wardrobe malfunction?).
