froggy (swimming)

    À quoi correspond le terme "froggy" en natation ? La brasse ?

    Strangely, I have never heard froggy used to refer to anything swimming-related although it is often used as a nickname for a French teacher.

    It suggests the position of the arms and the legs when swimming the breaststroke (la brasse). When I was a child and being taught the breaststroke, the instructor would call out "Aeroplane! Frog! Long-boat! Aeroplane! Frog! Long-boat!"

    Agreed, the action of the feet in the breaststroke is often called a frog kick.

    Quand j'étais enfant, on disait « nager en grenouille » en parlant de la brasse / breaststroke, justement.

    Je ne me souviens pas avoir entendu froggy / frog kick, mais bon... j'ai appris à nager en français. :)

    Merci ! Je n'avais jamais entendu ce terme non plus, mais intuitivement c'est vrai que la brasse fait penser à une nage de grenouille :)
