fuck friend, fuck buddy

Hey guys,

In English we say "Fuck friend" for a person you have sex with only, but is not your boyfriend/girlfriend or a friend (you never hang out) - the relationship is purely sexual.

Is there a term for this in French?

Thanks.

Funny that you don't have a term for it - would have thought it occurs more frequently in France than anywhere else ;)

'fuck buddy' is used in BE too as is 'friend with benefits'.

As is 'lover' and 'mistress' but the point of 'fuck buddy' and 'friend with benefits' is that they have instant comic/humourous connotations, they're phrased that way to sound amusing.

Well as a native I really think "plan cul" conveys the idea behind "fuck friends"

it basically means a "booty call"; I think a booty call and a fuck friend are the same thing but maybe is there is a slight difference I am not sure

In English I would have said "fuck buddy" as opposed to "fuck friend"... but I suppose it depends on your region.

The best translation - as has been said - is "plan cul"

    tous correct :
    amant = civilisé,
plan cul = humoristique, dégourdi, un peu vulgaire
copain de baise = ça dit ce que ça a à dire

Which is precisely why 'fuck buddy' serves so well. This is sex, not romantic involvement. Elegance has nothing to do with it.

I was actually reading up on the different term and in English the terms: friends with benefits, fuck buddies, booty call and one night stand all have a different meaning. I'll put the explanation I found.

The term cuddle buddies means someone you see occasionaly to cuddle therefore it is also different.
As for the French terms, they all seem to have the same definition which makes no sense really in my mind.

@msimard8285 I don't think that definition for the terms are as clear cut as presented in that table, especially regarding "fuck buddies" and "friends with benefits". The definitions can vary based on the person and/or pair. The lack of clarity between the two often can lead to a situationship (a relatively new term, appearing within the last five years I think).

Furthermore, I have rarely, if ever, heard a native speaker use the term "fuck friend(s)", at least not here in the U.S. Despite the alliteration, it sounds a bit harsh. "Fuck buddy/buddies" has pretty much won the day over here. I remember I was living in France when the movie No Strings Attached came out. I was surprised to find that they'd translated the title as Sex Friends because it's yet another term that is rarely, if ever, used by native English speakers.

Adding an even newer term to the list: a sneaky link = a person with whom you're having sex that you don't want anybody to know about.

I heard a French colleague (Quebec-Outaouais) say "Ami avec privilèges" today. It sounds much more elegant than the other options proposed. :)
