What is the difference between the spelling of 'fulfil' and 'fulfill' or are they interchangeable? I found 'fulfil' with only one 'l' in a BrE novel- what is the difference between them. Is it a difference between AE and BrE spelling?
    Many thanks, Emily

    In AE we use fulfill.

We like a full array of Ls in 'fulfillment' also!

According to Larousse Chambers dictionary, fulfil is BE and fulfill is AE.

According to the WordReference dictionary, either will do.

Fulfil, fulfilment, fulfilled - normal BE.
