hello,
A previous discussion on this word gives "work release programme", but seems to imply that it's in the context of parole. Can it be used for "stage" in French ?

    furlough in this context in AE means chômage technique ou partiel (temporaire ; une usine ou un bureau ferme pendant une période lente et les employés ne sont pas payés)
