Hello,

When you use the future continuous to make a guess/prediction about present and future events, how certain are you?

a) You will be missing my cooking once you are living on your own.

What is the difference between using the future continuous and the future simple? What motivates you to choose one over the other?

b) You will miss my cooking once you are living on your own.

Thank you.

    (1) The same level of confidence as any other statement about the future. "The sun will be rising at 6:00 AM" = 100% confidence. "My plane will be landing at 6:00 AM" = ...well, it depends on the airline and on the weather!

    (2) The same things that motivate us to choose the present continuous over the present simple. Normally, it is related to a desire to specify that something will be ongoing at a specific time.
