This is from Greek genea + -logy, study of. May I ask, is -logy considered a suffix or a root? If it is the latter, then genealogy consists of two roots.

    I believe it can have two roots, much like the word "alphabet." On top of that, it also appears to be a suffix, though I've never really cared for those kinds of distinctions and I don't really know what they're good for.
