get on / go on a hot-air balloon

I want to get on / go on one of these colorful hot-air balloons in Nevşehir.

I just wonder if we can use 'get on/go on' verbs for these like 'get on /go on a boat'.

I think I'd say "ride in a hot-air balloon" or else "go on a hot-air balloon ride".

Why "ride in"? Because you're inside a basket.
