Hola,

¿sabéis cómo puedo traducir esta frase? Se la dice una mujer a otra, mientras hablan del hombre que les gusta a las dos:

"Now you've decided to give the rival a run for it by letting Jack have some encouragement."

    El sentido de esta frase lo tengo claro, pero no sé como traducirla de la manera más fiel posible, teniendo en cuenta que tanto XFS como ReiserFS son gratuitos.

    "to give somebody/something a run for their/its money" does not necessarily involve money. It's a fixed expression meaning to provide significant competition, to compete well against somebody/something.
