Hello,

Could you please rephrase underlined phrase?

Austin looked at her (the teacher) sulkily and shook his head. He bent to his work, pink with temper and Tracy (teaching assistant) went on about her business, stoical.

    "Went on about her business" means continued with her work. "Stoically" means accepting the situation without complaint although she probably didn't like it.

    yes I agree... perhaps "Tracy continued with what she had been doing, stoically". In case it wasn't exactly work, maybe she was cleaning up a mess in the classroom.
