This bus is going slowly (like a wriggling maggot) so it may take one and half times its usual time.

Can you please supply an apt idiom for what is bold above?

    Some people are disgusted by maggots, so I'd be careful with that one, Pidgin. I had a friend who used to amuse us by saying that we mustn't all rush around 'like weevils in a biscuit'. Not many people like weevils, but that didn't seem to matter. Perhaps maggots are a gentle too far.
