go to the house / go home

Hi there,
I am an English teacher in a French secondary school. I am in the middle of grading papers and after reading so many "go to the house" instead of "go home", the shadow of a doubt has made its way ....
You can't say that, right?

Le second est la formulation naturelle, le premier peut avoir un usage spécifique.

As far as I'm aware, nobody would say go to the house for go home.

You could use the expression go to the house in instances when you need to say something like: Go to the house with the blue door.

Just needed confirmation after reading the same mistake again and again eventually made me doubt....

Don't forget: "go home" is also = rentrer à la maison. After school, I usually go home = D'habitude, je rentre à la maison après les cours. This may also explain the repeated mistakes with "home-maison".

Bonjour,
En français le mot "maison" est souvent utilisé pour "domicile". On entend souvent dire "je rentre à la maison" alors que la personne habite... dans un appartement.

Notez que le roman de Frédéric Brown "Martians, Go Home" a été traduit en "Martiens, Go Home!" en référence au slogan "US Go Home !" qui était utilisé en France pour protester contre le retour des militaires états-uniens dans les années 50.
