go up his dress

Lyon is going to fight a Scottish opponent in a kilt. Joshua, Lyon's manager, tells him:
— Kick his Scotland ass. It's not that bad. Go up his dress. I'd like to see if he got any drawers on.
Lionheart, film

What do you think it exactly means? Look under his dress? Or pull it up? Or something else?

    What sort of fight?

Whatever he means, he wants to see whether he's wearing any underwear. It's traditional (or perhaps mythical?) that Scotsmen wear nothing under their kilts.
