What is Gomenasai? For all I know it's some guy, but this case it's not, please tell me! Thanks!

ごめんなさい is definitely Japanese, but what is the context to this?
Is it for the taty song Jana linked? It just means "I'm sorry" or "my apologies." And the above quote is correct, it should be written with a double "n" as "gomennasai" but it's often left out for aesthetic reasons.
Note: I'm listening to the song on the iTunes store now and the Japanese word fits the rest of the lyrics.

I was curious why a Russian group would have a Japanese title to their song, and googled this article:
"Gomenasai" is a heartfelt apology to the group's Japanese fans, who they angered when Ivan forced them to cancel an appearance on a popular TV show, at the last minute (literally) during the middle of the live broadcast in 2003. This is one of the more softer, gentler songs on the album.

You can also hear the Japanese word "gomenasai" said by Madonna on the track "Sorry", from her 'confessions on a dancefloor' album. At approximatly 2:45 it is said.
You can listen to the Song here. And you are all right that "gomennasai" is "I'm extreemly sorry" in Japanese. The two N's has to be there, because the single "n" represents a syllable itself:

There are acutally at least four ways to write many things Japanese:
1) gomennnasai, the exact manner in which you have to type in order to get: 御免なさい、ごめんなさい
2) Gomen nasai. This is romaji or ローマ字 and tends to follow the convetions of separating words in European languages.
3) ごめんなさい。 This is in hiragana, 平仮名。The most common way that it is written in Japanese.
4) 御免なさい。This is 漢字 (kanji) and 平仮名 (hiragana), which is very common in Japanese and one of the things that makes Japanese so difficult.
At any point you can get a rough idea of usage by Googling both forms:
Results 1 - 10 of about 405,000 for 御免なさい。
Results 1 - 10 of about 10,300,000 for ごめんなさい。
Here is a nice little phrase I like:
ごめんなさい。私のせいです。
