    Hi,

For example, when I phonecall to Laura ( a person I know nothing about, I even don't know the gender or age of Laura) and I hear a female's voice. Is it polite to say "Good morning, Madam, could I speak to Laura" here ? I can't judge the age of the woman who is answering the phone. Is there a better word to addrss this woman?

    Thank you.

Save your brain cells for more important concerns. Use a pleasant "Hello. May I speak to Laura?"
