hi,

I would like to ask something in a formal letter, but I don't want to use "grateful"
Can you give me a synonym of "I would be grateful if you ...." please?

thanks

In AE you could say "I would appreciate it if...". But I see nothing wrong with grateful, if that is the case.

In general, though, I use "please..." or more elaborately "please be so kind as to...". In a very informal context, I might say "it would be wonderful/great/lovely if you...".
