great strength

Hi all,
The context is about an extraordinarily strong child, who is being counselled by his father to hide his "great strength", so as not to scare others.
"This great strength of yours - - you’ve got to hide it from people or they’ll be scared of you!”
This becomes in French « La force que tu as en toi… Tu vas devoir la cacher, ou les gens auront peur de toi ! »
Is there a reason that there is no translation of "great"? I.e., does « force » have a connotation of "great strength"?
Merci,
Classoneguy
