'Greetings': ok to close a letter/email?

Hi!

Would you, native speakers of English, use the word 'Greetings' to close a letter or email, or rather to open it?, as in:

"Dear George,

Greetings from Greece. I'm having a blast here. [...]"

    Yeah, good point: a greeting is a greeting and a farewell is a farewell.

    Your example does not show it as a closing. It is the beginning of the first sentence after the salutation, and it is fine where you put it.
