Hello!

Could you please what does Greyhound bus ticket mean?

He was sixty-eight and arthritic when he tottered out of the main gate in his Polishsuit and his French shoes, his parole papers in one hand and a Greyhound bus ticket inthe other. He was crying, then he left. Shawshank was his world.

Greyhound is a company that operates cross-country buses in the USA. I get the impression they're cheaper than trains, so tend to be associated with poorer people and less comfortable conditions.

That part is true to some extent. But the main factor is you can get anywhere on a Greyhound bus. You can't get many places on a train (including to or from the prison, probably). So a Greyhound bus ticket is far more practical. An airline ticket might be the most desirable, depending on how far you have to travel, but they aren't going to pay for that.
