Grow apart Vs Drift apart?

    Either could be used, and you could argue that they have the same or nearly the same meaning.

    "Grew apart" suggests a more active process; "drift apart" makes it sounds as if the relationship died out of inertia or apathy. These are very subjective interpretations. Both processes were probably lengthy and gradual.
