It depends on which Mandarin you have in mind. In Taiwan it's known as 民宿 (a loan word from Japanese). Likewise in Singapore as we were introduced to this concept by Taiwanese pop culture.

According to Wikipedia, it is known as 农家乐 (located in the rural among farmlands and such) in China. I can't find an equivalence in urban parts of China.

In mainland China, I think such private accommodation (bed & breakfast) is also called 民宿, or just 家庭旅館. I have stayed in such 家庭旅館 for a few times when traveling in China (usually in popular "ancient towns"). They are run quite professionally though, just like usual hotels.
