had some discussions between/among us

Hello,

We had some discussions between/among us/ourselves to flesh out the concept (meaning: that I and my colleague discussed something without involving others). I'll propose the final idea to the board tomorrow.

How to say it idiomatically?

Then you need "between ourselves". :)

"Among ourselves" would suggest to me that there were more than just the two of you.
