Hallux vs big toe

    What is the difference between hallux and big toe?

    "Big toe" is what people say in ordinary life. Many people (including me until now) would not know what "hallux" means.

    Also, hallux refers to the big toe on a rear leg of an animal with four legs.

    "Hallux" is an anatomical term for the big toe; it's not normally used by lay people.
