What does it mean? I mean, somebody said: "hand him off to Rob", but I really don't know what it means. Could you help me?

Thanks a lot my friends! Yeah, somebody called Joshua gave someone else, who's being spied, to Rob. But what about using "off" in this sentence based on context?
