Qualcuno potrebbe dirmi come tradurlo in italiano. "Valle pensile" è ovviamente ridicolo. Io propenderei per "sella", ma vorrei un conforto.

Could you add a bit of context to the words used. Are you talking about a picture?

Thank you Siberia. I'm talkin about a description of an erosion of the mountains by weathering. The sentence I'm talking is: "The brown at the bottom contains more iron oxide than the others. This means it erodes more quickly and forms those shear cliffs and hanging valleys you see."
I think Shear Cliffs should be "pareti di roccia" since "scogliera" is for italians just "sea cliff" and a hangin' valley is "sella"... But I'm not sure.

I've already read wikipedia and I though that "valle tributaria" could be hard to understand, but... in fact it is correct. Thank you once again.

scusate se mi intrometto, ma anche io sono incappata in 'hanging valley'
Astrattamente ho capito, ma quale sarebbe il termine geologico equivalente in italiano?
