Hello.

1a. Unlike the modern society, the primitive society has less specialized knowledge to transmit, and since its way of life is enacted before the eyes of all, it has no need to create a separate institution of education such as the school. (Korean university entrance exam)

I can't read well in Korean laungage if I understand in the way that 'less' modifies 'specialized'. But I can read well in Korean laungage if I understand in the way that 'less' modifies 'has' and 'specialized knwledge' is a objective of 'has'. Does 'less' modify 'specialized'? Can't 'less' modify 'has'?

Thank you always~.

' the primitive society has less specialized knowledge to transmit' = the primitive society has a smaller amount of specialized knowledge to transmit (probably).

It could be interpreted in two slightly different ways: (1) the way Beryl explains it; (2) the knowledge that the primitive society has to transmit is less specialized. Either way, the knowledge is transmitted to the next generation.
