have and have got in a question

Hi all,
Which question is the correct one among the following:
* Do you have a car?
* Have you got a car?

And if the both are correct, is there any differences between the both?? for example the first shows that you still have a car and the second shows that you have a car before (in the past).

    Both are correct, and the former is more idiomatic of American English. In my experience, "have got" appears more frequently in British English (here in the Midwestern US, I rarely ever hear it), but it would be up to someone from that side of the pond to verify that.
