Have you lived in ... for a long time?

I am trying to express these two sentences in Arabic:
    1) Have you lived in this city for a long time?
    2) For how long have you lived in this city?

هل تسكنين في هذه المدينة منذ مدة طويلة؟
(I´m not sure if this is correct... could I have used لمدة طويلة in stead? Also, is مدة okay to use here, or should I have used some other word?)

The second sentence I´m really unsure of.. I saw كم من الوقت being used in another thread, but I´m not sure if it is applicable in this context?

    For the first one:
Yes, it's correct, and you cannot say "لمدة طويلة" here. Also, it's ok to use "مدة" here and you can use "فترة" as well (it's up to you).

    For the second one:
You can say: "منذ متى") ; "منذ متى وأنت تسكنين في هذه المدينة؟" = since when); I don't think "كم من الوقت" is suitable here.

    Hope this helps :)

    Urdu (Pakistan)
Is it okay if we drop وأنت and just say منذ متى تسكنين في هذه المدينة؟ ?
