    He broke both legs skiing.

    I'm a bit confused about the use of "skiing". The sentence is correct? If so, skiing here is a verb?

    Thanks for the website. I was confused about the use of it after "both", if I heard ....while he was skiing it won't be odd for me, that's why I asked for the help.

    I re-read your answer you said that "to modify broke" would you please explain how can that modify broke?

    Did you see my parenthetic words explaining? (The issue of 'both' or 'one' is irrelevant.)

    How were the legs broken? by/during skiing ==> hence, adverb.
