He bullied me (was bullying) me until I was crying (started crying)

Hello.


I am wondering what the difference is between:

He bullied me until I started crying (I think was crying works as well)

And
He was bullying me until I started crying.

I think there is only a minor or no difference at all.

    There's no fundamental difference. The simplest version would be: He bullied me until I cried. The other variants don't change that much. He was bullying me until I started crying suggests, "Yes, it's true that for a time he bullied me, but he stopped when... "
