I’m in a language school in Philippines now and I’m studying English here. Today I read this sentences in my textbook.

①Gilbert check out ten books in a week from the city library. He's really a bookworm.

But I thought this one is the better.

② Gilbert checks out ten books in a week from the city library. He's really a bookworm.

I would like to hear your opinion and explanation. Thank you.

    To talk about Gilbert, you need to use the third person singular form of the verb, which means adding an s to the base form "check":

    If there were more than one people checking out books, it would be (for example):
    Gilbert and George check out ten books...
