yeah, something along those lines. more like to let go of a friendship, not a relationship/broke her heart

L'ha lasciata perdere e adesso lei è danneggiata/ferita per sempre?

Being honest I have no idea of the real meaning of 'to let go of...', so it's just a try :) ;) Ciao, Walnut

Walnut, I'm as lost as you are! :D

How can you let go of someone? That's important for a proper translation.
    And how was she damaged?

to let go, lasciar andare; lasciar fuggire; lasciar perdere

in questo caso - in this case:
he let go of her and now she's damaged for always = l'ha lasciata andare (mollata) ed adesso lei ha subito un danno permanente

Obviously if we could have more context it would be better

That's an American way of saying "he divorced himself (not in a marital sense) from her & she was distraught". :D Wow what a rat. He should have let her down easy. :D :D

Oh my! He's gone! jml come back! :D

Here's my translation (very very colloquial and informal):
Lui ha chiuso l'amicizia con lei e lei è rimasta così scottata, che se l'è giocata per sempre.
