En el cuento "Smith: an Episode in a Lodging House" de Algernon Blackwood, el protagonista recibe una visita inesperada por la noche de un vecino, y dice: "One evening, while I was reading, the door of my room opened and Smith came in. He made no attempt at ceremony. It was after ten o’clock and I was tired (...). My attempts at ordinary politeness he thrust on one side at once, and began asking me to vocalise...". ¿Cómo traducirían esta frase? Se me ocurre: "No hizo gala de ceremonia" o "No mantuvo las formalidades", pero ninguna me convence.
