Speaking about a patient recovering from a nervous breakdown...

After giving the author a desperate look he flung out of the room. The nurse said "Oh, he puts it all on. But he is all right with me. I can always sooth him down"

Qualcuno mi sa illuminare sulla questione?? Grazie!!

There are a few mistakes in that: he flung himself out of the room, if anything (but 'fling' is not the right word here: maybe he 'stormed out of the room"); I can always calm him down (you can't soothe someone down); so maybe: "he's just faking it".

is a passage from the book i'm translated by Denton Welch (1945) that's why I quoted it.
I really couldn't guess what "put it all on" could stand for!! Thank you guys!
