He was still on a high

Hi Forum Members.

How would you translate “he was still on a high” as in the following?

The teenage boy couldn’t believe that the most popular girl in school had texted him. Hours afterwards, he was walking with a spring in his step (walking cheerfully). He was still on a high from what had happened to him earlier.

Would it be... (I want it to sound as if he’s on a high almost like a drug “high”.)

Todavía estaba en un colocón/subidón.

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

A possible traduction could be: "[...] Todavía le duraba el subidón [...]".
Another possible option: "[...] Seguía en una nube por los que le había sucedido antes."
