Let's say you have a younger brother who depends on other people at home what he needs to do. He has this mind-set of "they will do it for me anyway".

He doesn't wash his own dishes because he's thinking, "mom will wash them for me anyway".
His task is to throw the trash, but he doesn't do it because he's thinking, "dad will throw it anyway".
etc.

I would like to know if this sounds natural:

Let him wash his own dishes and throw the trash outside. Otherwise, he will always rely on you to do them for him.
