The proposed translation in the case of a court, a testimony, is escuchar, but it shold be oír: the Spanish court is the Audiencia, and the testimony is oído, not escuchado (oír las partes, una vez oído el testimonio, etc.).
Currently, the verb OÍR in being substituted by ESCUCHAR, but, in formal language, the judge/panel, only hears (OYE) the testimony; only an expert advice would listen to (ESCUCHARÍA).
