Hello everyone,

I would like to know if the word "חלודה" has a known etymology. Does it have a root that is related to other Hebrew words?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • According to Klein's etymological dictionary:

And the entry for חלד II:

I think in Klein, MH means Modern Hebrew, so that would mean חלוד as shown above is a Modern Hebrew word derived ultimately from חלודה.

Thank you again, but I think you have misunderstood my question. I am asking if there's another word of common usage in Hebrew that is extremely similar to the חלד root or that starts by a very similar or even equal root.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If there were, Klein would likely have cited it rather than saying "of uncertain origin."
