In English a group of sheep is always referred to as a "flock" never as a "herd"




The farmer tended his herd of sheep.

    Thank you for your message. It is true that the noun flock is used to talk about sheep, but I'm afraid it is not true that the noun 'herd' never is. Either flock or herd can be used for sheep. Here is the definition of herd from the OED:
