can someone tell me, please if Namaste means only hello or also bye?
if its only hello, how is then bye in hindi???
How can I say: Hello my friend .....+ bye

    The proper word in Hindi for "bye!" is: अलविदा (Alvidaa)

    However, I don't think people say that very often. Muslims would say "खुदा हाफ़िज़" (Khudaa Haafiz). (Infact Muslims don't say "Namaste" at all, they say Assalamu alaikum even for greeting)

    However, I have heard people say नमस्ते (Namaste) for "bye" (Hindus) - so yes, you're kind of right. I guess it's a bit like Italian with "Ciao".

    One thing that is heard very often is फिर मिलेंगे (fir milenge) which literally means "(We) will meet again"
