Hello,

Could you please explain/rephrase underlined phrases?

Maybe she should have told Mike from the beginning, but hindsight was a wonderful thing. It was not easy to talk about the past. Nor had she wanted to see in his eyes anything like what she had seen last night; the doubt, the disbelief, the fear. < Second question removed. Cagey, moderator >

She's saying that in hindsight, you see/realise things that you might not have seen/realised earlier. It's an ironical statement. While hindsight helps you realise things, it's usually too late for that realisation to help in that particular situation.

hindsight (WR dictionary): the ability to understand something after it has occurred: With the advantage of hindsight we now see our mistake.

You'll need a separate thread for your second question.
