I want to express he has great knowledge in computer science compare to others. Is it formal to write like this "His knowledge in computer science is much above that of his peers and in some cases exceeding his senior team members?" Or any better way to express this?

His knowledge of computer science is greater than that of his peers and in some cases exceeds that of his senior team members.

    Thank you, Copyright!
Are there more formal ways to express this?
I think "great" sounds like he has more knowledge than his peers, but I also want to emphasize his knowledge is advanced compared to his peers. Am I right?

    Thanks again!
I do not think I clearly express my question. I would like to emphasize both the range and depth of his knowledge. Are there any words to express this?
