I located translations for the following terms and other similar terms but I am not satisfied with the translations: historieta, comica, tira comica, libro de comica, comiquita, etc. Here's the context, when I was about nine years of age my father used to have a collection of "historietas" but these were not comic strips in the sense that they were not intended to be funny (Micky Mouse/Donald Duck) or entertain (hero comic strips). His collection pertain to Catholic Saints such as San Martin de Porres o Santa Lucia. I have come up with the following compromised translation since I could not find any that would describe this type of historieta: short illustrated story. La historieta se publicaba con el proposito de mantener la devocion al Santo y para inspirar una vida Catolica moral. Then, short illustrated story best describes the type of 'comic strip'. If you have an uncompromised (true translation) I would like to hear from you. Thank you.
